Book Groups
Brewerton Book Discussion Group
Meets the last Tuesday of every month. Selections are usually fiction titles, with an occasional classic or nonfiction title. Visit NOPL.org/events or speak to a librarian at NOPL Brewerton to see what we’re reading this month!
Between the Covers: Romance Book Club
Meets the third Thursday of every month at NOPL North Syracuse to discuss the monthly selection and share favorite picks and authors.
Everyone’s a Critic Book Discussion Group
Meets the second Tuesday of every month from 2-3:30 pm at NOPL Cicero. Join us for a one-of-a-kind book discussion group where you bring a recommended book, and you and others share your opinions in a unique and lively forum!
Mystery Mayhem in Graphic Novels and Fiction
NEW! This monthly mystery genre book club at NOPL Cicero invites those who love classic mystery, cozy mystery, or thrillers to join in on the mayhem. Mystery comes in many formats, including graphic novels, and you are welcome to bring your own mystery author to the Mystery Mayhem book group. (First meeting is Wednesday, March 25, 4 pm-5pm; more dates to be announced) Registration is encouraged.
Monday Night Book Club
Meets the first Monday of every month from 6-8 pm. Everyone is welcome to discuss our latest read. Books are selected by members early each year and are posted on NOPL’s events calendar. Visit NOPL.org/events or speak to a librarian at NOPL North Syracuse to see what we’re reading this month!
Memoir Book Club
Meets the second Tuesday every month from 6:30-7:30 pm at NOPL Brewerton. Memoirs are true, personal stories from an author’s life revolving around universal themes such as coming of age, falling in love, and family. We’ll be reading from the works of writers like David Sedaris, Roxane Gay, and other favorites chosen by book club members!
Silent Book Club
Spend a few hours reading in quiet camaraderie. No talking, only the peaceful turning of the page. Occurs every other month on the second Monday at the NOPL North Syracuse.
Host Your Own Book Club
We have book club kits that appeal to all types of reading groups, featuring mysteries, popular non-fiction and many New-York Times bestsellers. Each kit contains 10 paperback copies of the same title and a discussion guide. The kits can be checked out for a six-week period on a single library card.
