The theme for the 2026 summer reading program is Unearth a Story. This summer, we invite people of all ages to embark on a thrilling journey filled with books, activities, and events designed to inspire a love of reading and exploration.

Join us for NOPL’s Summer Reading Program from June 29th to August 13th. Everyone who signs up for this year’s Summer Reading Program and logs what they read is eligible to win prizes. You can sign up and attend events at any NOPL branch throughout the summer! Or, sign up online below. Registration opens June 29, 2026.

Summer Reading Kickoff

Start your summer off by decorating your own library-provided tote bag (while supplies last). This bag is perfect for carrying all the books you’ll read this summer! While you’re at the library, sign up for summer reading and learn all about the amazing programs that will be at all three NOPL Libraries!
Magic Show with ‘The Great & Powerful Dave’

NOPL Brewerton
Dinosaurs are threatening to eat all the books at NOPL Brewerton, and Jurassic Dave needs to use his magic to stop them! Can you help? Join Jurassic Dave Moreland—aka The Great & Powerful Dave—for this high-energy, 45-minute magic show filled with adventure, suspense, comedy, audience participation, and dinosaurs!
RetroGameCon at the Library

RetroGameCon is bringing classic gaming vibes to your local library! Join us for retro video games and a whole lot of nostalgia-fueled fun.
Adult Summer Reading
Did you know there’s a NOPL Summer Reading Program for adults? Earn points toward raffle tickets to enter to win one of three grand prize gift baskets by reading or listening to books, attending NOPL programs/events, and completing BINGO cards. (This year, get bonus points for checking out a parks pass!)
Check back for news on our 2026 gift basket themes! Your points will count toward receiving smaller prizes during the program too. Look for many special Adult Summer Reading events coming soon on the NOPL events calendar.
Sign up online using the sign-up button above or in person at any NOPL location, any time this summer, starting June 29. The program runs through August 21, 2026.
