Free Notary Public Service

NOPL has professional, state-licensed notaries on staff to help certify signatures on your documents. A notary’s signature is required on many documents to serve as a trusted independent witness.

General Information

NOPL offers free notary services at our Brewerton, Cicero, & North Syracuse locations.

***Please call ahead to confirm availability at all branches or to schedule an appointment***

Staff CANNOT notarize wills at any location.

*Please bring any additional witnesses needed with you.*
Non-notary staff and other patrons cannot serve as witnesses.
Only documents in English can be notarized.

Beginning Oct. 5, 2026, we will offer notary services on:
Mondays, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
Tuesdays, 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Fridays, 9:30 am to 1:00 pm

Yes! Notary Public is just one of the many services NOPL offers for free to the community.

Availability is dependent on staff scheduling, which is why we recommend calling in advance and scheduling an appointment.

In order to have a document notarized, please bring the following to your appointment:

  • All the people who will sign the document (involved parties). If your document requires witnesses in addition to the notary, please bring additional witnesses with you. Non-notary staff and other patrons cannot serve as additional witnesses.
  • A valid, government issued photo ID for each person.
  • The document without any signatures.

Your notary will verify your identities, witness the signing of the document, and notarize it when complete.

While many legal documents must be notarized, having something notarized does not make something legal. Our notaries are there to verify the identities of those involved and witness they are signing the document willingly. A notary public is not an attorney and cannot make something legal or ensure its truthfulness. If you need legal advice, please consult a certified attorney.
