#NationalPuzzleDay celebrates coming together and putting our minds to work with crosswords, jigsaws, trivia, word searches, brain teasers, Sudoku, and the like. Puzzles are fun, but there are benefits too:
- Studies show that spending time daily working on puzzles improves memory, cognitive function and problem-solving skills.
- Word searches and crossword puzzles have the obvious benefit of increasing vocabulary and language skills.
- Sudoku exercises memory, logical thinking and can improve number skills.
National Puzzle Day is on January 29, 2020, and we’re celebrating with two special events:
Sat, Jan 4 | 2-3:30 PM | NOPL Cicero
Sign up as a team of friends or family and put together a 500 piece puzzle as fast as you can! All ages welcome – teams of 2-8. The winning team gets bragging rights and a different 500 piece puzzle to keep. Registration required. Register
Mon, Jan 13 thru Wed, Jan 29 | NOPL Cicero
Check items out between Jan 13-29 at NOPL Cicero and you’ll receive a ticket for a prize drawing, which will be held on January 29. Prizes include puzzles, puzzle books and other giveaways. Prizes will be on display. Stop into the library, check something out, enter the drawing, and you could be a winner on National Puzzle Day! Sponsored by the Friends of NOPL Cicero.
