If you know Raena, it’s because you’ve seen her at our North Syracuse Branch. Raena has been working with Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) for almost five years now, first starting as a clerk, and then after graduating college, becoming the NOPL North Syracuse Branch Teen Librarian. Recently Raena has been promoted to a full-time Children’s Librarian at our Cicero Branch. She will continue her work as a teen librarian while helping babies, toddlers, and young readers alike. We’ve recently talked with Raena to learn a bit about her and learn her favorite reads.

As Raena learns her new position’s ropes, she is also getting familiar with Cicero Branch’s Collection. Here Raena recommends two books, Ghost Cat by Eve Bunting and Otis and the Puppy by Loren Long.

For the older readers, Raena recommends the Harry Potter Series; this series was very relatable and inspiring for Raena. Readers today are lucky, as the wait for the next book or movie is not as long as what she had to endure when she was younger. The Harry Potter books and films are still very popular and checked out often, but the short wait for a library hold is less bothersome.

Here Raena talks about the excitement when becoming a librarian and learning the book collection at Cicero Branch, where she will now be working.
