“As is the inevitable result of things unsaid, we find ourselves until today oppressed with a dangerous and reverberating silence,” James Baldwin wrote in the essay “Many Thousands Gone.” The essay was part of Baldwin’s first, most powerful collection Notes of A Native Son, first published 60 years ago.

Join us for a reading and discussion series on the works of James Baldwin, including his Early Novels and Stories and Collected Essays. This program is made possible through a grant from Humanities New York. The first meeting is an introductory session to review the syllabus and make arrangements for the books will to be distributed.

This series of events will be held on Zoom.
