Encore! Creative Aging Workshops

Creative Aging workshops are a professionally run programs designed for adults 50 and older to engage in visual, literary and performing arts for social engagement, skill mastery, and meaningful artistic expression.

What is EncoreEncore! is NOPL’s branded Creative Aging program and the first of its kind in Onondaga County. This season’s Encore! professional workshops will focus on play reading and watercolor painting and will begin in March 2018 at NOPL Cicero. Seniors are invited to register for one of the two workshops below:

Encore! ‘The Play's the Thing!

This is a series of play reading and production. Our first week will be all about character development and selecting a relevant 20th-century play (No Hamlet or Shakespeare here!). Everyone will be have a role with plenty of room for creative expression! The classes will be taught by Dan Stevens.

Encore! 'Learn the Basics of Watercolor'

Fridays, March 30-May 18 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (no class May 4)

Begin your journey into watercolor the right way. Learn about paints, tools and techniques to build a solid foundation from which you will be able to start creating your own beautiful watercolor paintings. The classes will be taught by local art mentor Laurie Schillawski.

The Encore! reception will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 10am.  Enrollment in these workshops is free, but registration is required.
