About Homebound Delivery
NOPL’s Homebound Delivery service brings books, audiobooks, music, and DVDs directly to patrons who live within the library district and cannot visit the library temporarily or permanently. The service helps patrons continue enjoying library services, reading materials, entertainment, and lifelong learning from the comfort of home.
Who Can Use Homebound Delivery?
The service supports anyone who cannot easily visit the library due to age, illness, injury, pregnancy, recent childbirth, disability, or mobility limitations.
This service is available to NOPL patrons who live within the library’s special district service area and cannot regularly travel to a library location. Both short-term and long-term situations may qualify.
Family members, caregivers, or social workers may also help patrons complete the enrollment process.
How Does It Work?
NOPL offers two homebound delivery options:
- Recommended Reads — Librarians select materials based on your interests and preferences.
- Holds Only Delivery — You place hold requests through the library’s online catalog, and we deliver them to your home.
Patrons may request a variety of materials, including large print books, audiobooks, movies, music CDs, and more.
When Are Materials Delivered?
NOPL staff deliver materials and pick up returns on the third Friday of each month. Severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances may require us to reschedule deliveries.
