What is Books on Wheels?

Books on Wheels is a book delivery service provided to nearby residents with the library’s service area who are unable to visit the library due to physical disability or illness.

What library materials are available?

Books (regular or large print), audiobooks, DVDs and music can be requested. Items with hold requests and new items with shorter loan periods are not included in deliveries. Additional items are selected by library staff to supplement requests. Items are loaned for one-month periods.

When are books delivered?

Deliveries are made by volunteers or library staff. When the one-month loan period is ending, library staff prepares a new delivery and calls arrange a time to bring the new delivery and pick up the previous month’s loans.

How do I sign up?

Please contact your nearest NOPL branch to express interest in having books delivered to your home.

Can I be a volunteer for the Books on Wheels program?

Yes! Books on Wheels requires many volunteers to help bring library materials to those who cannot leave their homes. Please contact your nearest NOPL branch and ask how you can be involved.
