Story Times Resume at the Library

After taking a brief recess during the last few weeks of summer, a new season of story times are beginning at all three Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) locations – Brewerton, Cicero, and North Syracuse.

Story time holds numerous benefits for children. Not only does story time help to instill a love of reading and of books, it can lengthen a child’s attention span, build and improve vocabulary and listening skills, and the stories that are read can help children to understand different situations and cope with feelings.

The story times at NOPL are led by Children’s Librarians who carefully select age-appropriate stories and incorporate songs, crafts and finger-plays to make the experience fun.

At NOPL at Brewerton Story Time is held weekly on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m., followed by an open playtime (for ages two and up). Drop-ins are welcome, or you can reserve a space by visiting or calling 315-676-7484.

NOPL at Cicero has four story time sessions every week: Toddler Story Hour is held on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. (for ages 2-3) every week. Preschool Story Hour is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. (for ages 3-5) following Toddler Story Hour. Drop-ins are welcome; if you plan on coming regularly however, please register by visiting or calling 315-699-2032.

At NOPL at North Syracuse, Storytime with Miss Sarah for ages 0-3 is held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m., and for ages 3-5 it is held on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Those running a home daycare can enjoy Daycare Storytime – this session is just for daycare providers; it is held weekly on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. Once a month, Miss Sarah also holds a special Tuesday evening PJ Storytime. Registration is required for all story times held at NOPL at North Syracuse. Please visit or call 315-458-6184.
