You’ll find a key for location abbreviation and coloring coding so you know what programs are the right fit from preschool to tween, plus where to find them. Also, don’t forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Program, online or at the library, to earn prizes all summer long as you read.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Sharing stories is a great way to develop important pre-reading skills and to help children learn about the world. Studies have shown that children who are read to have increased attention spans, more developed listening and language skills and larger vocabularies when they enter school. 1,000 books may sound like a lot, but it adds up very quickly – and we have some fun incentives for participants!
All of our NOPL locations host regular story times for different ages and groups, and there are even special story events.
Let your child’s imagination and creativity run wild as they build their own creations from more than 70 pounds of Legos!
For those times that you can’t make it to the library you can access our digital services for children 24/7 with your library card and PIN.
