East Syracuse-based artist Maria Rizzo invites all Onondaga County residents age 16 and older to join her in a special painting project! With just a 20-minute time commitment, you can take part in creating an interactive work of art.
As of July 24th the project is on hold. Currently the visits to NOPL for August have been cancelled. We look forward to rescheduling in the future.
Each participant will paint one section of a large canvas, to form a tree that represents the various communities in Onondaga County. Maria will provide painting supplies and guidance – no previous painting experience is necessary. Once finished, the whole work will be displayed as a symbol of the communities that created it – a unique tapestry made up of many distinct and important pieces!

This project is made possible by a 2014 Individual Art Commission from CNY Arts. It will be ongoing from April through the end of the year, on different days at each OCPL member library.
