Maker Club Defined.

What do you do at Maker Club?
We make things! At each session, we’ll focus on a different DIY.org skill area (cardboard, Perler beads, tape, mechanical engineering, and others!). Choose from suggested projects, or come up with your own. You can also get ideas for more things to make at home, work together on ideas, help brainstorm future Club projects, and show off your work.

Who is Maker Club for?
Children and teens ages 7 and up. With that in mind, children 10 and under will need help with the projects and must be accompanied by an adult. In Maker Club, we use real tools, some of which are sharp or hot – Maker Club projects are not appropriate for preschoolers.

Do I need to sign up for DIY.org to be a part of Maker Club?
Nope! DIY.org is just one way to share your work with others and ask questions. You don’t need to sign up if you don’t want to.

Do I need to come to every session, or stay for the whole session?
No, and no. You can come to as many or as few session as you want, and stay for a short time or for the whole two hours.

Bring your imagination and build a masterpiece at our monthly Lego Club.  Get inspired with a few stories and then construct a Lego creation.  We will display what you built in the library for all to see!  We have more than 60 pounds of Lego and megablok bricks.

We normally have two programs, for those ages 6 to 9, and for those ages 9 and up.

Free Music MP3s from Freegal

FreegalLogoFreegal is a free service for all NOPL library patrons, available on any computer with an internet connection (and now on Apple and Android phones). Each week, with just your library card and pin number, you can pick three songs to own for free from the Sony Music catalog. They arrive as MP3s and you can add them to your music players or burn them to CDs.

Chances are if you like music, Freegal has music you’d want.  Songs are taken from the Sony Music catalog as well as hundreds of other labels.  Freegal has new popular songs and thousands of classic songs and albums, including nearly every song by Bob Dylan, Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis, A Tribe Called Quest, and Miles Davis (just to name a few).

You could download 150 free songs this year alone. Given that there are 3 million songs available, there’s no worry that you’d run out of free songs to buy and enjoy.

Hoopla! Stream movies on your desktop, tablet, or phone.
